Pomoy

Pomoy is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pomoy is located at an altitude of 309 m above sea level, 11 km west of Lure and approximately 15 kilometers east-northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the headwaters of Ruisseau de la Prairie at the western foot of the height of the Bois de Venet.

The area of ​​7.51 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside between the basin of Vesoul in the west and the level of Lure in the east. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Pomoy that is drained to Ognon by the Ruisseau de la Prairie to the southeast across the Lauzin. The Alluvialniederung is on average 300 m and has a maximum width of one kilometer. To the west, the land rises slightly to an agricultural plateau and up to the timber height of the Bois de Chassaigne. The northern end of the trough is the height Escloupe ( 355 m). On the north-west, the municipality's area extends into the Talniederung Colombine (inflow of Durgeon ).

East of Pomoy rises the forest back to the Bois de Venet, on the 393 with the highest point of Pomoy is achieved. It forms the watershed to the basin of Lure. In geological- tectonic terms, the terrain consists mainly of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In some places in the Bois de Venet also limestone comes to light from the Middle Triassic.

Neighboring communities of La Creuse Pomoy are in the north, Genevreuille in the east, and Mollans Liévans in the south and Velleminfroy in the West.

History

Remains of a Roman road traffic have an early inspection and settlement of the area probably down. In the Middle Ages Pomoy belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The existence of a noble family called Pomoy is attested since the 12th century. The rule Pomoy was from the Luxeuil monastery dependent. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Pomoy is a member of the 14 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Franches - Communes.

Attractions

The village church of Pomoy was rebuilt in the 18th century. In-room amenities include a richly sculpted altars and baptismal fonts, paintings and statues from the time it was built. Worth seeing are the Mairie ( Municipal House ), a large building from the 19th century, and the village fountain, whose style is inspired by the Ancient further.

Population

With 194 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Pomoy is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 494 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Pomoy was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road N19, which runs from Vesoul via Lure to Belfort. Further road links exist with La Creuse, Mollans and Liévans.
