Genevreuille

Genevreuille is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Genevreuille situated at an altitude of 303 m above sea level, 9 km west of Lure and about 18 km east-northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the valley basin of the Razou west of the level of Lure, on the eastern edge of the height of the Bois de Venet.

The area of ​​6.42 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside between the basin of Vesoul in the west and the level of Lure in the east. The central part of the area occupied by the valley widening of Genevreuille, which is on average 300 m and has a diameter of approximately one kilometer. In this basin, which is primarily used for agriculture, springs from the Razou. It provides for the drainage to the east of the Reigne to Ognon.

The valley is flanked on three sides by hills: the south by Aigremont (361 m) and the Grand Bois de Mollans, in the west of the Bois de Venet (390 m) in the north and from the heights of Châtillon ( with 411 m the highest elevation of Genevreuille ) and Mont Jarrot (408 m). In geological- tectonic terms, the grounds of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments is established, which were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In some places, is also evident limestone of Middle Triassic.

Neighboring communities of Genevreuille are Adelans -et- le -Val -de- Bithaine in the north, Amblans -et- Velotte in the east, the south and Mollans Pomoy and La Creuse in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Genevreuille belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the men at Ronchamp and Mont Justin. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. With the opening of the railway line from Belfort via Lure to Vesoul Genevreuille was tied mid-19th century to the French railway network. Today Genevreuille is a member of the 14 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Franches - Communes.

Attractions

The village church of Genevreuille was inaugurated in 1805 and has a painting of St. Leonhard ( 18th century). From the 18th century comes a small stately home.

Population

With 159 inhabitants (2007 ) Genevreuille one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 347 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded in recent years.

Economy and infrastructure

Genevreuille was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, including a company of aluminum processing. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road N19, which runs from Vesoul via Lure to Belfort. Another road connection with Mollans. Through the area, the railway runs from Vesoul to Belfort; the nearest railway station is in Lure.
