Antiquers is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Antiquers situated at an altitude of 298 m above sea level, 8 km northwest of Lure and about 24 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the northwestern part of the plain of Lure, at the edge of the Bois des Franches Communes.

The area of ​​9.93 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Lure. The main part of the area occupied by the flat area, which is an average 300 m. Agricultural land use predominates in the range of Antiquers. Drained the northern part is the Lanterne directly to the Saône, while the southern part belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Ognon. The Bauvier is south of the village a broad lowland bog. To the west, the land rises slightly to a passed with meadows height at 339 meters the highest point of Antiquers is achieved. History

In the Middle Ages Antiquers belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. In the 15th century Antiquers passed into direct dependence of the Duke of Burgundy. It formed henceforth the center of its own rule, which was administered by vassals of the dukes of Burgundy. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. After the French Revolution in 1793 Antiquers capital of the canton of the same name, which in 1801 integrated in the Canton of Luxeuil. 1806 moved to Canton Antiquers Lure. Today Antiquers is the administrative seat of the comprehensive 14 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Franches - Communes.

Attractions

The village church of Saint- Martin in Antiquers was rebuilt in the 18th century; the chancel dates from the 19th century. In-room amenities include a richly carved pulpit (18th century) and the high altar with copper ornaments. The former seat of power from the 15th and 17th century is classified as a monument historique and now houses the Mairie ( Town Hall). The village is characterized by various houses from the 17th to the 19th century, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône.

Population

With 358 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Antiquers one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 562 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Antiquers has long been a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, including an operating wood processing and an auto repair facility. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D64, which runs from Lure to Luxeuil -les- Bains. The center is relieved by a four-lane bypass road from through traffic. Further road links exist with Citers, Bouhans -lès -Lure and Franchevelle. Antiquers is crossed by the railway line from Lure according to Epinal. The nearest train station is in Lure.
