Pont-Arcy

Pont- Arcy is a commune with 129 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Aisne in the Picardie region; it belongs to the district of Soissons and Canton Vailly -sur- Aisne.

Geography

Pont -Aisne between the Aisne and the Aisne - side channel, 20 kilometers south of Laon and 30 kilometers north-west of Reims.

History

In the 12th century Pont- Arcy owned by the Count of Braine from the family of Capetian and later the Lords of Châtillon and until the Revolution was again the Count of Braine. The castle was conquered by the Huguenots in 1568, recaptured in 1590, and finally by the league in destroying it.
