Its

The Brotonne bridge over the Seine is a leading cable-stayed bridge between Rouen and Le Havre on the north coast of France. In this section, the Seine is navigable for ocean-going vessels. The next bridge upstream is about 70 river miles and 35 road miles from the Pont Gustave Flaubert in Rouen, the next bridge downstream is around 40 km from Pont de Tancarville. The building is part of the route Departmental RD 490 and is used as a four-lane road bridge with two 6.5 m wide carriageway and two 1.5 m wide sidewalks. Following a decision of the Council in the Seine -Maritime use of the bridge is free of charge since the summer of 2005.

Description and Data

Built between 1974 and 1977 bridge at that time was the first major cable-stayed bridge with a bridge deck of a continuous prestressed concrete box and had the longest span of all built of concrete cable-stayed bridges. It was designed by the working at the construction company Campenon Bernard engineers Jean Muller, Jacques Mathivat and Jacques Combault. At the design worked with the architect Auguste Arsac, Philippe and Pierre Loyer Fraleu.

The bridge section is 1278 m long and, except for the supporting parts, a plain reinforced concrete structure. The main bridge has a length of 607 m and its span is 320 m. Your road carrier consists of a 19.2 m above and below 8.0 m wide and 3.8 m high, unicellular prestressed concrete box girder with constant height, which is internally reinforced by oblique precast webs. It was produced by the balanced cantilever with precast segments. The two side panels have span lengths of each 143.5 m. For ships, the headroom is 50 m.

The two transversely centrally disposed rod-shaped pylons of reinforced concrete have a height of 125 m. The 21 stay cables are passed on cable saddles through the pylons and anchored in a mutually almost harp -like arrangement in the bridge deck.

The main bridge is complemented by a northern and a southern ramp bridge that have a Pfeilerachsabstand of 58.5 m as a rule. The ramp bridges are girder bridges whose constant over height of 3.8 m is unchanged from the main bridge. The pillars are 8.75 meters wide and have a hollow cross-section.
