Port Richey is a city in Pasco County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,671 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Port Richey is located at the mouth of Pithlachascotee River into the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast of Florida. The city is bordered to the south on New Port Richey and lies about 55 km northwest of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,671 inhabitants distributed to 1,772 households. The population density was 485.6 inh. / Km ². 92.5 % of the population were white, 1.7% African American, 0.7 % Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 1.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.8% in different ethnic groups. 6.0% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 40.7 % of all households lived in 16.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 52.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.05 persons and the average family size is 2.63 people.

15.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.9% were 20-39 years old, 30.2% were 40-59 years old and 36.7 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 52 years. 50.5 % of the population were male and 49.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 34,063, while 23.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.49 % of the population spoke Spanish and 2.51%.

Through the city runs the U.S. Highway 19 The Tampa International Airport is around 50 km away.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 396 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There was a murder, 14 robberies, seven injuries, 29 burglaries, 111 thefts and two car thefts.
