The Port Wakefield Road is a trunk road in the center of the Australian state of South Australia. It connects the Grand Junction Road in the northern suburbs of Adelaide with the Princes Highway in Port Wakefield and Yorke Peninsula. As a national road A1 belongs to the national highway system.

Course

The Main North Road ( A1) in Gepps Cross, after the junction with the Grand Junction Road ( NA16 ), to Port Wakefield Road. Until the Port Wakefield Road is widened to four lanes and has workarounds all small places through which they had performed earlier. The old bypass of Port Wakefield is ever built over with rest houses and other items, so the demand for a new bypass has raised further east.

2011 road improvements, including a widening of the Port Wakefield Road between Salisbury Highway (A18 ) and the Waterloo Corner Road was completed as part of the project Northern Expressway.

Settlements

The Port Wakefield Road runs through the northern part of the Adelaide - level. To the west of the road the largely unspoiled coastal land of the upper Gulf Saint Vincent extends with a number of fishing villages and holiday resorts. East is rich farming country.
