Portugal men's national volleyball team
The Portuguese national volleyball team of men is a selection of the best Portuguese players that the Portuguesa de Federação Voleibol represented in international tournaments and international matches.
History
After Portugal 1947 Founding member of the World Volleyball Federation FIVB was and had graduated first respectable international performances, the competent Ministry of the authoritarian Estado Novo regime sub-band from the late 1950s, all other international participations of national Volleyball Federation FPV. It was only in the decades after the Carnation Revolution in 1974 received Volleyball in Portugal again increasing attention.
World cup
The first participation in a World Volleyball Championship, the Portuguese occupied the 15th place in 1956. In the 2002 World Cup, they were eighth.
Olympic games
Previously Portugal failed to qualify for the Olympic Games themselves.
European
The first European Volleyball Championship in 1948, the Portuguese succeeded in fourth their best result. In 1951, she was seventh. At Euro 2005, she appeared on the tenth.
World Cup
The World Cup was previously held without participation of Portuguese.
World League
1999 Portugal played for the first time in the World League and finished tenth. From 2001 to 2003 there were three times in a row, the 13th, 2004, the Portuguese were again tenth. Her best result they achieved in 2005 as a fifth. In 2006 there were one more time Rank 13
Europe League
In the Europa League in 2007 the Portuguese were subject to host the Final Four only in the final against the Spanish national team. In the European League 2008 they already dropped out after the first round and were eighth. 2010 won the Portuguese then the competition.
