Poruba pod Vihorlatom

Poruba pod Vihorlatom ( until 1948 slovak " Nemecká Poruba "; German nickel village, Hungarian Németvágás - to 1907 Németporuba ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 627 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), which for Okres Michalovce, a part of the Košice Region owned and located in the traditional landscape Zemplín.

Geography

The community is located at the junction of the East Slovakian Lowland in the Vihorlatgebirge next to the reservoir Zemplínska šírava and will brook crossed by Bach Porubský. The center is located at an altitude of 193 m nm and 11 kilometers from Sobrance as well as 19 miles of Michalovce.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1418 as Nemethporuba writing. After a tax directory, the village had in 1427 Porta 18, 1722 then 16 households, and mill, and finally in 1828 88 houses and 522 inhabitants. Main sources of income were agriculture and viticulture.

The original inhabitants were German settlers who in the inside mountains, who later emigrated to localities of iron ore in the church today Remetské Hamre, instead, Rusyns settled in the village.

Until 1918/1919 was one of which is in the county Ung place the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia and Slovakia today.
