The Poti International Airport (Georgian ფოთის საერთაშორისო აეროპორტი ) lies on the eastern edge of the port city of Poti in Georgia.

It is separated from the city by the river Rioni. South of the airfield extend extensive swamps and wetlands, east and north of the square is surrounded by fields and forests.

The airport was great for the Soviet Union 's military strategic importance (the airspace and border surveillance on the Black Sea, to the NATO country Turkey and Iran. It was closed after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, as a profitable operation at this time was inconceivable.

The Georgian government has taken up the Poti airport in a business development program, ambitious goal is the continued expansion of the Caucasus most important airport, Georgian President Saakashvili said at the opening of a well established there free trade zone.

The financial support from the United Arab Emirates ( financial assistance in the amount of one billion U.S. dollars) resulting Poti International Airport at the Georgian Black Sea coast will have the longest runway in the Caucasus region. Would be of advantage to the low population area near airports and topographically convenient location. Most modern radar device for aerodrome operations is already installed on site. The great Georgian tourist centers Mestia, Batumi and Poti want to cooperate with the new airport.

The airport is to be re-opened in 2012.
