Pouilly-Fuissé

Pouilly -Fuissé is a significant Appellation d' Origine for white wine in Mâcon, Burgundy. At the foot of the famous Rock of Solutré are the villages Solutrense Pouilly Fuissé, Chaintrà and Vergisson. The cliffs of Solutré and Vergisson mark the end of a limestone plateau on which all approved varieties in Burgundy, with the exception of Gamay, which is found in Beaujolais, grow.

The full-bodied wines of the area are fermented Chardonnay vines. In the oak barrel matured wines can not age well in the bottle and remind you of roasted almonds and hazelnut aromas later. Otherwise, the wines are very fresh and very flowery. Due to the popularity, particularly in the United States, these wines reach a similar price level as a Chablis.

The Pouilly -Fuissé should not use the Pouilly Fumé -, a Loire - are confused wine from Sauvignon Blanc.
