Powerman 5000

Powerman 5000 ( also PM5K ) is a company incorporated in Boston in 1989, Nu- Metal band. The founding members all know each other more or less from the Berklee School of Music.

Background

In Boston, founded the band later moved to Los Angeles in order to better grasp there in the music business can walk. Frontman of the band, Michael David Cummings has just published PM5K few own songs under the stage name until today remained Spider One. ( Which has on the song " When Worlds Collide" gripped with the microphone ) He is the younger half-brother of Rob Zombie and now the only band member who is left of the original cast of PM5K. Cummings has founded his own label MAGTRONIC Records Publications of the band.

Because of disputes with the former label of the album, " Anyone For Doomsday? " Is unceremoniously pulled back from the market and achieved on the market today three digit ( collector ) amounts. PM5K touring frequently in the United States and was, among others, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, Kiss, Metallica, Spineshank, Adema, Mudvayne and Korn on stage.

Beginning of October 2009 the new album "Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere " was released after three years of silence. The two preliminary songs were just to get on the Apple platform ITunes, are also represented on the album.

On 9 September 2011 the album " Copies, Clones & Replicants " appeared. This includes exclusively gecoverte songs ( ex: Van Halen - Jump). This CD is to be regarded as a by- product, not a new album.

Music style

While the older albums like " True Force " or " Tonight the Stars Revolt " to a mix of punk rock, hard rock, some funk and techno elements, remember, it was noticed from " Anyone for Doomsday? " An evolution rather to the Hard Rock, which you can be seen especially on the song " Bombshell". The album "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly " is a collection of tracks from the years 1991 to 1996 and there you can also hear a few elements which are strongly reminiscent of hip-hop ( for example, " slumlord "). The album "Destroy What You Enjoy" now seems more mature and earthy. You can Powerman 5000 only now assign half right for nu-metal, with no clear categorization is even possible here. The 2009 released single " V is for Vampire " recalled again more to older works of the band around Michael Cummings.
