Powodowo, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Powodowo ( German Powunden ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is located in the powiat Elblaski (Kreis Elbing ) and belongs to the rural commune ( gmina wiejska ) Rychliki ( Reichenbach ).

Geographical location

Powodowo lies south of the lake Draus (Polish: Jezioro Druzno ), 14 kilometers southwest of the former county town Pasłęk ( Prussian Holland). The village can be reached from Rychliki ( Reichenbach ) on the province road 527 from over Wysoka ( High village). Until 1945 there was about Kwietniewo (Royal Blumenau, Blumenau King 1931-1945 ) rail connection to the railway line from Elbing (Polish: Elbląg ) about Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ) to Hohenstein ( Olsztynek ), which is no longer in operation but.

History

The named to 1945 Powunden place was awarded the Prince Sudovians Kantigirde and the Sudovians Zwinniennnen and their sons in 1285. 1427 here a manor was founded. Beginning of the 17th century the estate was owned by the Zehmen family, and in 1623 stayed here King Sigismund III. on his way to Malbork (Polish: Zamek w Malborku ). In the mid-17th century family Kerssenstein took over the property. This was followed by many changes of ownership.

In 1837 they shared the Good in old and new Powunden. On May 28, 1874 both goods came to the newly formed District New Doll Städt (Polish: Nowe Dolno ). He belonged until 1945 to the district Prussian Holland in the district of Königsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia. In 1910, Old Powunden 132 and New Powunden counted 133 inhabitants. On September 30, 1928 finally Gutsdörfer both were incorporated into the rural community of New Doll Städt.

As a result of the Second World War came Powunden to Poland and since then is called Powodowo. It now belongs to the Gmina Rychliki ( Reichenbach ) in the powiat Elblaski the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship ( 1975-1998 Elbląg Voivodeship ).

Church

By 1945, the predominantly Protestant population Powundens was incorporated ( Kwietniewo - Święty Gaj ) in the parish Blumenau Heiligenwalde. It belonged to the parish of Prussian Holland ( Pasłęk ) in the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Church of the Old Prussian Union.

Today, however, now a part of predominantly Catholic Church members as in the past to the parish in Kwietniewo (Royal Blumenau, Blumenau king 1931-1945 ), now the dean's office Dzierzgoń ( Christburg ) in the Diocese of Elbląg ( Elbing ) of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are assigned in Pasłęk ( Prussian Holand ) of the church. It is a branch church of Ostróda ( Osterode in East Prussia ) in the Diocese of the Evangelical - Augsburg Church Mazury in Poland.
