Prabuddha Dasgupta

Prabuddha Dasgupta ( born September 21, 1956 in Calcutta, West Bengal, † August 12 2012 in Alibaug, Maharashtra ) was an Indian advertising and fashion photographer.

Life

After studying history at Delhi was Dasgupta screenwriter and then a photographer for advertising. He worked for the magazines Vogue, Elle, Harper 's Bazaar and GQ and published books with ambitious artistic photography. Among his most famous photo series belongs Women (1996 ), a series of shots of urban women; including nude photos that have been discussed controversially in the public, as well as the landscapes of Ladakh Ladakh (2000) and in the photographs published by William Dalrymple 2009 Edge of Faith on the Goan Christian community. His works have been shown in national and international solo and group exhibitions.

Although he was married to another woman and had children, Dasgupta lived in the last years of his life in Goa along with the model Lakshmi Menon, who was often portrayed by him.
