Prague-West District
Okres Praha- západ ( German district of Prague -West) is a district in Středočeský kraj, Czech Republic.
Geography
Covering an area of 581 sq km about 108,000 inhabitants, of whom 37 % live in the nine towns of the district: Roztoky, Černošice, Dobrichovice, Řevnice, Libčice nad Vltavou, Jílové near Prague, Mníšek pod Brdy, Hostivice and Rudná. With an age index of 81.6, the district has the best value in Central Bohemia.
Since 1 January 2007, the municipality Dolany belongs to Okres Melnik.
Economy
The area was never a major industrial areas, but here, medium businesses were located, mainly with the metal processing and construction materials. Currently, many commercial enterprises settle. Major employers are Raab Karcher Staviva, AAA Auto and Delvita.
Population
The proportion of the working population of all residents is 53 %. 19 % work in industry and about 3% in agriculture. The average gross wage is 18,128 crowns and Praha- západ is one of the districts with the highest wages in the Czech Republic. Unemployment is the lowest in the country: 3%.
Attractions
The district is a recreation area. Along the rivers Berounka, Moldova and Sázava are numerous holiday homes. In the area there are several nature reserves such as Český kras and Mednik. Also, cultural and historical monuments can be found here:
