Prefab Sprout

Prefab Sprout is a British band from Newcastle -upon- Tyne, England. At the moment Paddy McAloon is the only member.

History

The Newcastle-born guitarist and songwriter Paddy McAloon formed the band in 1977 along with his brother Martin on bass, Wendy Smith as female vocals and Daniel James on drums. McAloon was the inspiration for the band name to the song Jackson by Nancy Sinatra, with whom he has misunderstood the text line " hotter than a pepper sprout " ( hotter than a pepper sprout ). Prefab Sprout in German means about " prefab sprout ". Band biographer Stewart Mason of Allmusic believes the name was merely an invention of adolescent McAloon without deeper meaning. The band went into the pubs of Newcastle a name and produced by cancellation of the record industry on its own in 1982, the single Lions in My Own Garden (Exit Someone ) which was published in Candle Records. The title is as backronym the French city of Limoges, wanted to study at the University McAloons a girlfriend. James was replaced on drums by Mick Salmon.
