The Presbyterian University College (German Presbyterian University ) (in short: PUC) in Abetifi, Agogo and Akropong is a University College which is affiliated to the University of Ghana. The PUC was as University College approved on 23 November 2003, Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor opened the college on 27 March 2004. The origins of this university go back to Abetifi to 1869. The campus in Abetifi situated at an altitude of 630 meters and is therefore considered the highest inhabited place in Ghana.

History

In Abetifi one of the first Basel missions in Ghana was founded. 1869 Rev. FA Ramseyer and his wife were spent by Abetifi as prisoners of war on their way to Kumasi. Ramseyer returned to his release after Abetifi and founded the Basel Mission. Today's campus is located partly in the field on the Ramseyer had built its training center.

Faculties

The University is in Abetifi - Kwahu and Akropong - Akwapin in the Eastern region and in Agogo in the Ashanti region.

Abetifi - Kwahu Campus

On the Abetifi - Kwahu campus, the oldest part of the university four faculties are housed.

The Faculty of Business Administration offers the Departments of Accounting / Finance, finance / banking, human resources, management and marketing.

The Faculty of Engineering combines the departments of Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and electronics, metallurgy and materials

The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science consists of the departments of information / communications, and information / communication technology

In the faculty of science so far the departments of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics were opened.

The Abetifi - Kwahu campus of PUC is located near Abetifi. The campus is located in the Okwawu - Mampong hills at an altitude of up to 630 meters above sea level and thus provides the most elevated area in Ghana dar. Abetifi is located 180 km from Accra and 130 km from Kumasi away. Abetifi is located near the city Nkawkaw, which is located between Accra and Kumasi.

Agogo campus

In Agogo campus three faculties have been established:

The Faculty of Agriculture combines the departments of agricultural economics, agricultural production technology, horticulture, animal husbandry and cereal cultivation in itself.

The Faculty of Health and Medicine is divided into the departments of Children's Health, General Health, medicine, nursing, obstetrics and gynecology, pharmacy, public health and surgery.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences houses the departments of biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and optometry.

Akropong Campus

On the Akropong campus three faculties are so far been established:

The Faculty of Arts and Culture is divided into the departments cultural studies, art and design studies, Industrial Arts Integrated Urban Art and Industry as well as paintings and sculptures.

The Faculty of Development Studies unites the departments architecture, building technology, development planning, environmental studies, human resource development, industrial science, tourism and hotel management in itself.

The Faculty of ethics and social sciences is divided into the departments economy, geography, land management, languages, Modern Administration and religion and missionary activities.
