Príbovce

Príbovce ( Pribotz German, Hungarian Pribóc ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 1091 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Martin, a part of the Žilinský and is counted to the traditional landscape Turz.

Geography

The community is in the midst of the valley Turčianska kotlina at the confluence of the creek Blatnický creek with the Turcianska. The center is located at an altitude of 420 m nm and is located 10 kilometers south of Martin.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1230 as terra Pribouch writing. He was originally a village gentry and lay on an old road from the county Neutra. Here was a post- transhipment and there were county assemblies in place instead. 1783 here a Protestant grammar school was founded. One of the three tobacco factories on the territory of Slovakia was established in 1812.
