Prince Frederick of Orange-Nassau

Wilhelm Georg Friedrich, Prince of Orange- Nassau ( * February 15, 1774 in The Hague, † January 6, 1799 in Padua ) was the second son of William V Erbstatthalters of the Netherlands and Princess Friederike Sophie Wilhelmine of Prussia.

Life

He entered military service early in the Dutch Republic of the Seven United Provinces, adopted in 1793, when Holland was attacked by Dumouriez, with a scraped together from straggling of troops to Frenchman Geertruidenberg and Klundert again and pressed the enemy back across the Lys. In 1794 he was general of the cavalry, but put after the conquest of the province of Utrecht in 1795 his commanders place down and followed his father to England. In 1796, he joined as a major general in the army on the Lower Rhine in Imperial ( Austrian ) services and distinguished himself with his brigade especially before Kehl, was its transfer by his storming of the Swabian hill. In February 1797 he joined the army of the Archduke Charles to Italy, was field marshal lieutenant and received the command of the whole Austrian army in Italy in November 1798 as a field -marshal, but died January 6, 1799 in Padua. He was not married and had no children.
