Prince Michael of Kent
HRH Prince Michael of Kent (Michael George Charles Franklin, born July 4, 1942 in Iver, Buckinghamshire, England), GCVO, is a member of the British Royal Family, a grandson of King George V. He is named after the brother of the last Tsar of Russia, Mikhail Alexandrovich Romanov, named. He leads the courtesy title " His Royal Highness, the Prince Michael of Kent ", with the title " Prince " refers only to the United Kingdom and the additional "of Kent " expresses his descent from the "Duke of Kent ". Michael is not therefore be described as "Prince of Kent ". Prince Michael of Kent does not conduct regular royal duties on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II from, instead he runs his own consulting business and assumes various commercial orders anywhere in the world. Early life
Prince Michael of Kent was born on July 4, 1942 in Iver in Buckinghamshire. His father was Prince George, 1st Duke of Kent, the fourth eldest son of King George V and Queen Mary. His mother was Marina, Duchess of Kent, a daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna Romanova of Russia, a granddaughter of Tsar Alexander II As the grandson of a British sovereign, he was considered a " Prince of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland " "His Royal Highness " born with the prefix. His salutation is " His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent ." Education and military service
Prince Michael visited the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in January 1961 In 1963 he was transferred to the 11th Hussars. He was stationed while serving in Germany, Hong Kong and Cyprus. His squadron was part of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. In 1981 he retired from the army. Royal duties
Prince Michael is the third child of the fourth son of George V. It was not expected that he would take on royal and official duties. Criticism
Both Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, which is referred to by the British press for her brash nature as Princess Pushy, were in a negative way in the media spotlight. The criticism aimed mostly from the fact that the couple exploiting his royal status to his personal advantage. In 2002, revealed the British press that the couple only one month's rent of 276 pounds for the apartment with more than ten rooms at Kensington Palace, its maintenance the British taxpayer at the time cost more than a million pounds, paid, whereas the actual monthly rent at 10,000 pounds were.
