Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester

HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, KG, GCVO ( Richard Alexander Walter George, born August 26, 1944 in Barnwell Manor, Northamptonshire ) is a member of the British Royal Family, grandson of King George V.

Life

His father was Henry, 1st Duke of Gloucester, Prince of Great Britain and Ireland, the third son of King George V. His mother was Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, daughter of John Montagu -Douglas -Scott, 7th Duke of Buccleuch and 9. the Duke of Queensbury. He leads the title His Royal Highness and since 1974 also Duke of Gloucester.

At the time of his birth he was fifth in the British throne. When he was four months old, he moved with his family to Australia because his father was governor-general there. In 1947, she returned to a change of government.

The Duke supports his cousin Elizabeth II in representation tasks. Richard is currently at 23 place in the succession. He is also patron of a number of organizations in the UK. His focus is in the areas of architecture and historic preservation. He is one of the Commissioners of English Heritage.
