Life

Eleanor was the daughter of Duke Johann Georg I of Saxe- Eisenach and his wife Johannetta of Sayn- Wittgenstein. On November 4, 1681 married in Eisenach Johann Friedrich, Margrave of Brandenburg- Ansbach. With this, they had three children before he died in 1686 of smallpox. Successor in Ansbach was a son of John Frederick from his first marriage, and Eleanor was spent with her children to Crailsheim, where they lived under poor conditions.

On the advice of the Electoral Advisor in Dresden Hans Adam von Schöning, who sought a rapprochement with Brandenburg, married the widowed Princess of Ansbach in agreement with the head of the House of Hohenzollern, the Elector Frederick I of Brandenburg, on 17 April 1692 in Leipzig, Saxony Elector Johann Georg IV.

This marriage proved to be extremely unhappy, Johann Georg IV was not ready to let go of his beloved Magdalena Sibylla of Neitschuetz. Between spouses, it should have come from Pollnitz to blows after presentation of (but totally unreliable ) Karl Ludwig, culminating in the fact that Johann Georg went off with his sword on his wife and his brother had to disarm him, to prevent worse. At least the relationship remained strong supercooled, overshadowed by suspicions and childless despite two pregnancies.

Johann George IV died in 1694 and Eleanor was deported with her children to Pretzschendorf. Having assumed the sons Johann Friedrich of Ansbach from his first marriage would die without descendants, moved Eleanor son Wilhelm Friedrich according as Prince. The only purpose in life was now their daughter Caroline, who she 13 years old, finally leaving in 1696 as an orphan.
