Princess Marie Anne of Saxe-Altenburg

Marie Anne of Saxe-Altenburg ( born March 14, 1864 in Altenburg, † May 3, 1918 in Biickeburg ) was a princess of Saxe- Altenburg and by marriage Princess of Schaumburg -Lippe.

Life

Anna Marie was the eldest child of Prince Moritz of Saxe- Altenburg (1829-1907) from his marriage to Auguste (1843-1919), daughter of Duke Bernhard II of Saxe -Meiningen.

She married on 16 April 1882 in Altenburg later to become the Prince Georg of Schaumburg -Lippe ( 1846-1911 ). After the marriage the couple resided in the newly refurbished castle in the city of Hagen and in 1893 followed his father Adolf I Georg in government. The princess supported churches and schools; she is the founder of Marie Anna pin in Hagen.

At the Schaumburg castle in Rinteln at the outer gate a large alliance coat of arms of the Prince and Princess from the year 1908. Marie Anna died from sepsis caused by the poison of corpses at the coffin of her husband. She was buried in the mausoleum Biickeburg.
