Princess Sarah
A Little Princess Sara (Japanese小 公 女 セーラ, Shōkōjo SERA ) is a Japanese animated series ( anime) from the year 1985. It was created based on the novel Sarah, the little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, published in 1905.
Was animated series by Nippon Animation as part of the series World Masterpiece Theater. The anime has also been adapted as a manga, which was released in November 2013 in German Tokyopop.
Action
Sara Crewe was born in India, where she grew up with her French mother and English father. Her mother died early and Sara's wealthy father, Captain Crewe, look for the girl an English training before, due to which he puts them in his hometown of London. In Miss Minchens Institute for young ladies Sarah will receive a ladylike education, while the father returned to India to pursue his business in the diamond mines of Golconda.
Miss Minchin, who runs the boarding school with a strict hand, is initially proud to showcase student Sara for which they accepted special privileges such as a separate room, a maid and a private coach reluctantly. The director hopes with Sara primarily a financial promotion for their institution.
Sara is in spite of their wealth a warm, imaginative and frugal girl that weaker students supported and becomes friends with the previously rejected more students Ermengarde and Lottie, and the mistreated scullery maid Becky. However, Sara also attracts the envy of the class elders Lavinia up, which was regarded as the richest and most intelligent girls prior to their arrival and feels devalued as a result. Even Miss Minchens grudge against Sara grows after she realizes that the girl is her superior in the French language.
Sara's situation changes abruptly after the institution of the death of her father overtook her birthday, who died in India from the effects of yellow fever infection. Furthermore, it turns out that the diamond mine was not considered profitable in Golkonda. Differences in comparison to the novel
Compared to the novel in the series were some things sometimes necessarily changed.
So the novel is rather written in a descriptive style, while there is a continuous story arc in the anime. In addition, Sara tries to be a princess in the book, so to overcome her hard life. In the anime, she achieves this through her strong will and imagination, through which she looks to others like a princess.

Publications
The entire anime series has been released in France on DVD in late 2004. The DVD is only the French audio track.
2008, the German Sales NEW KSM acquired the licenses of some classic anime series, including A Little Princess Sara. The first box with 23 episodes was released on 12 February 2009, but leaves only with German soundtrack and in the German TV version, which shortened the intro and completely miss the guy. The second and final DVD box set of the series was published in May 2009.
