Princess Sophie of Saxony

Sophie Maria Friederike Auguste Leopoldine Alexandrine Ernestine Albertine Elisabeth ( born March 15, 1845 in Dresden, † March 9, 1867 in Munich) was a princess of Saxony from the Albertine line of the Wettin dynasty and by marriage Duchess in Bavaria.

Life

Princess Sophie was the youngest daughter of King John I of Saxony and Princess Amalie Auguste of Bavaria.

She married on 11 February 1865 in Dresden her cousin Duke Karl Theodor in Bavaria, son of Duke Maximilian in Bavaria and Princess Ludovica Wilhelmine of Bavaria.

After the birth of her first and only child, a daughter named Amalie in Bavaria, on 24 December 1865 she was ailing and became weaker and weaker, until even the doctors had no hope and tasks them. Sophie eventually died in March 1867, not yet 22 years of influenza.

She is buried in Tegernsee.
