Priozersk, Kazakhstan
Priozersk ( Kazakh Приозерск; Russian Приозёрск / Priosjorsk ) is a city in Kazakhstan with 19,724 inhabitants ( 2006). It is located 500 km south of the regional center in Karaganda region on Lake Balkhash.
Population
From the population is about 46 % Russian, 39 % Kazakhs and 6% Ukrainians, there are also a variety of other nationalities.
History
The city was founded in 1956. Priozersk is because of the nearby test site for missile and air defense Saryschagan a closed city.
