Proclus (crater)

26.91

Proclus is a young impact crater on the moon west of Mare Crisium on the eastern border of the Palus Somni. Located just south of the terraced crater Macrobius and west-northwest of the flooded crater Yerkes. Between Proclus and the Yerkes Olivium and Lavinium are called foothills.

The rim has a polygonal, reminiscent of a pentagon shape and does not particularly over the surrounding terrain. The crater has a high albedo, which is otherwise only surpassed by the crater Aristarchus.

The crater has a remarkable ray system that extends over 600 km continues. The system is asymmetrical, with the largest rays to the northwest, north-north- east and north-east point. In a bow to the southwest, there are no impact ejected debris, suggesting a low impact angle.
