Macrobius (crater)
62.79
Macrobius is a striking impact crater north-west of Mare Crisium in the northeastern quadrant of the Moon. It is located on the southeastern shore of Lacus bonitatis, a smaller moon sea. The significantly smaller craters Tisserand joins the east.
The outer crater wall of Macrobius shows a highly terraced structure with some scree slopes on the upper levels. On the western side overlaps the small satellite crater ' Macrobius C' the crater rim, but elsewhere, too, has wear and tear. In the center of the crater floor rises a central mountain complex. The relative level floor has otherwise only in the west to a low range of hills.
Side crater Macrobius got the meantime assigned a unique name by the IAU:
- Macrobius A - see craters Carmichael.
- Macrobius B - see Crater Hill.
- Macrobius D - see crater Fredholm.
- Macrobius L - see craters Esclangon.
