The Professor Molchanov (Russian Профессор Молчанов ) is a named after the Soviet meteorologist Pavel Molchanov eisverstärktes ( ice class UL/1A Super ) Research and cruise ship Akademik - Schuleykin class.

The principal of the end of 1982 in a Finnish shipyard overflowed the stack research vessel Akademik the Schuleykin - class was the Soviet Union, to which it was delivered after completion.

Until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the ship was used as a research vessel for the Arctic and ozeanologische research. It took 34 trips, including three global hydrological research cruises.

The new owner built the ship to a cruise ship for trips up north. Home port of almost 70 m long ship is the northern Russian city of Murmansk.

The sister ship of the Professor Molchanov, the Akademik Shokalskiy, gained notoriety in 2013 after it became stuck on an Antarctic tour in the ice and the passengers had to be rescued.
