Protogeometric art

As Protogeometric ceramic is called the painted pottery of the Greek area from the period between about 1050 BC and 900 BC After this pottery of the period of their occurrence is often called Protogeometric period in Classical Archaeology.

The vases are often painted with most large-scale, rigorous geometric patterns. Typical in this context include concentric circles or semicircles, which are usually drawn with a compass. Usually the containers are grouped around an opening in the upper region and with circumferential lines in multiple vertical zones. There have so far been found only very few almost undamaged specimens.
