Prysk

Prysk ( German Preschkau ) is a municipality of Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic on the southern slope of the Lusatian Mountains. The municipality is named after a water source. ( " Prýskající " = abspringendes water).

Geography

The village lies in the valley of the brook Pryský creek about five kilometers east of Kamenice ( Bohemian Kamnitz ). The recreational facilities and the production of glass dominate the community, trying to get back its original appearance.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1382 as Pryska. It is characterized by traditional glass manufacturing. Worth mentioning is the Baroque church of St. Peter and Paul, the work of northern Bohemia frequently encountered architect Pietro Paolo Columbani that is inside and outside with statues of A. Max ( 1763) richly decorated. Another work of art is the relief of the Madonna from the 18th century.

Districts

The municipality consists of the villages Dolni Prysk (low Preschkau, also Niederpreschkau ), Horni Prysk (Upper Preschkau, also Oberpreschkau ) and Vesnička (filler Dörfel, also Füllerdorfel ). Basic settlement units are Prysk Dolni and Horni Prysk.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Dolni Prysk and Horni Prysk.
