Puelén

Puelén is a municipality in the department of the same name in the province of La Pampa in the center of Argentina.

The name comes from the Mapuche language meaning plain in the east.

History

On August 19, 1882 came to Batalla de Cochicó that part of the Conquista del desierto was (Eng. desert conquest ) in the vicinity of the later settlement.

The settlement was founded on November 14, 1893 and 1945, appointed to the community.

Between 1974 and 1978 Chacharramendi ( Departamento Utracán ), La Reforma ( Departamento Limay Mahuida ) and Puelches ( Departamento Curaco ) established a water supply system between Puelén and the communities whose total length is 207 km.

In 1991, the municipality had 763 inhabitants, in 2001 there were 836

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is modeled on the shape of the department. It is next to a goat a tamarind tree and a small lake, also a saint's image and has clear reference points to nation and province with the white and blue ribbon of the rising sun on.
