The Purnitz at Altensalzwedel

The Purnitz, formerly known as Little Jeetze, is a 3rd order watercourse in the river system of Jeetze in Altmark Salzwedel. It rises north of Drömling, south of the city blocks in the southwestern Altmark in northern Saxony-Anhalt. From there you drive leads north through the city blocks, districts takes the tributaries salt ditch Baarser Mühlengraben and Landgraben on to the southeast of Dambeck and northwest of Maxdorf, the county town of Salzwedel, to open into the Jeetze. The Purnitz drains the Great rift between Apenburg and Siedentramm. Here it is only steps away from the springing here tributary of the mildness, the Lower Mild, which flows away to the east. The river's name is of Slavic origin.

The most important fish species of the river include carp, tench and roach.

In blocks a kindergarten and an elementary school are named after the river.
