The queen of a thousand years or Queen Millennia (Japanese新竹 取 物语1000年 女王·, Shin Taketori Monogatari: Sen -tion Joo, GV "The New Tale of the Bamboo Cutter: The queen of a thousand years" ) is a manga by the Japanese illustrator Leiji Matsumoto from the years 1980 to 1983, based on which the anime studio Toei Animation from 1981 to 1982, a 42- episode anime series produced. A movie was released in 1982. The plot is based loosely on the Japanese fairytale Taketori Monogatari.

Action

Hajime is a 14 - year-old boy and lives in Tokyo with his parents. One day he saves a cat's life and thus made ​​the acquaintance of the beautiful Yayoi Yukino, the daughter of a noodle restaurant owner. As Hajimes parents come in a mysterious explosion killed, he lived after his uncle, Prof. Amamori, the director of the observatory of Tsukuba. There he also meets Yayoi again, which works as an assistant for Prof. Amamori in the observatory.

Anime television series

The television series was produced in the years 1981 and 1982, directed by Nobutaka Nishizawa based on the manga. Following the broadcast by the Japanese TV station Fuji TV in the same two years ( April 16, 1981 to 23 May 1982) it was also sold due to the great success abroad, including Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, China and Germany.

In Germany, the Queen of the thousand years was the first time in March 1991 at the Munich commercial broadcaster Tele 5 as part of the children's show Bim Bam Bino. The dubbed version consisted of only 41 episodes, because you had omitted a sequence that summed up again in the original Japanese after the first three quarters of the series, the previous action with known images. The second and so far last broadcast in Germany took place on 27 April 1992 to 23 June 1992. On June 21, was released in 2005 in Japan, the complete TV series on DVD box. The set includes 6 DVDs and a bonus CD with the soundtrack of the series and the movie. About a publication in Germany is yet unknown.

Anime movie

On March 13, 1982, a 121 -minute film was released in Japan under the direction of Masayuki Akihi, which tells the story of the series in a modified form.
