Quinn Martin

Quinn Martin ( May 22nd, 1922 in New York City, New York, † September 5, 1987 in Rancho Santa Fe, California), actually Irwin Martin Cohn, was an American television producer.

Life

Martin was born in New York, his family moved to Los Angeles, where his father worked as a film producer. After his military service in World War II, he completed his studies in 1949 at the University of California at Berkeley from. He began his career as a film editor and screenwriter. For Desilu Productions, he first worked as a producer for Jane Wyman Show. For Desilu he developed crime series The Untouchables on Eliot Ness. In 1960 he founded with Q.M. Productions his own production company, and many classical and long-lived television series produced as The Fugitive, Cannon and The Streets of San Francisco. In the United States, Martin was known mainly by his name was spoken by an announcer on the theme music of his series ( " The Streets of San Francisco. A Quinn Martin Production" ). In the German- processing was this part, including the presentation of the main characters and guest stars, cut out.

1979 Martin sold Q.M. Productions at Taft Broadcasting and moved to Rancho Santa Fe, a census-designated place in San Diego County. He held a professorship in the Department of Drama at the University of California in San Diego and held various honorary positions.

Martin was married in the late 1950s with the scriptwriter, and producer Madelyn Pugh. From 1961 until his death from a heart attack he was married to his second wife. From the two marriages produced three children.
