The Invaders (AKA The Invaders ) is a famous American science fiction series of 1960er/70er-Jahre.

The first episode aired on January 10, 1967 in the United States when production year can therefore be assumed in 1966. On German television ( ZDF), the series between 14 April 1970 and 5 January 1971 respectively aired Tuesdays at 21:05 clock. The average audience here was 46%. Of the total of 43 episodes, only 20 were dubbed in German. The series on German television has never been repeated up to the Series No. 18 The persecuted on 18 September 1973.

Action

The architect David Vincent observed one night, gone astray, the landing of a UFO. He alerted the police, but this is at the scene of the action no traces. Vincent, who is now all over the country hires research, is the dogged opponent of the aliens. He realizes that the aliens have assumed human form, follow sinister invasion plans and already have occupied key positions in politics, administration and the military.

The aliens are external to differ only to a slight curvature of the little finger of the people as well as the fact that they burn up when they die. If they are injured, they do not bleed and also do not have a pulse. In the second season of the series Vincent meets a group that calls itself The Believers ( The Helpers). These have created an organization that fights from the underground to the aliens. They build, for example, secret bases, from which they can interfere with the landing of saucers with special waves. Also, they manage to attract influential people for their struggle.

In contrast to many other sci-fi series Invasion comes from Vega with minimal animation techniques and a few special effects from. The fact that the aliens appear as humans and thus can appear anywhere and suddenly produced an uncanny threat that seems to come from everywhere and thus a dramatic tension that was rarely achieved afterwards in such a series project again. The series thus taking significantly motives of the so-called "Invasion Movies " from the 1950s on ( as The Invasion of the Body Snatchers - German title " of the Body Snatchers " by Don Siegel ), based on the fear of the allegedly creeping communism in the U.S. alluded.

Others

In 1995, a television mini- series was titled The Invaders - produces invasion from outer space with Scott Bakula with 2 parts of 90 minutes each, which should continue the story of the Invaders. The two episodes were broadcast on 26 and 27 January 1997 ProSieben. The main actor Roy Thinnes had 30 years later a recurring role in the TV series The X-Files

On 30 May 2011 the consequences appeared 1 and 6 ( The discovery and the insects) on a DVD both in English and in German dubbed version. On November 30, 2012, all 20 German synchronized consequences including the English language plus 90 minutes of bonus material published in a consisting of 6 DVD Box for the first time.
