R4 expressway (Slovakia)

The Rýchlostná cesta R4 is still present in large parts in planning highway in eastern Slovakia. You will I/73 I/68 and replace on its route from national roads. Larger towns on the highway are Prešov and Košice. Currently, only 4.6 km long bypass of Svidník are ( two lanes, on 20 December 2010 opened ) and the 14.2 km long route Košice - Milhosť ( four lanes, opened on 7 November 2013) in operation. Furthermore, the R4 is coextensive with the D1 at the track Prešov - Budimír to about 19 ​​km.

The planning of the route between Lipníky (east of Prešov ) and Svidník is delayed by constant route changes. The so-called red variant is substantially parallel to the existing main road through Giraltovce and Okrúhle and is 41.9 km long. The blue variant deflects to the east, around the cities Hanušovce nad Topľou and Stropkov and along the dam VeLka Domaša and is 50.2 km long.
