The Rychlostní silnice 52, shortly R52, a highway in the Czech Republic and part of the European Route 461 is you will connect the cities of Brno and Vienna in the final and in conjunction with the Austrian North Highway A5. Currently, the R52 runs from junction to junction Rajhrad Pohořelice -south. There she goes over to the main road 52, which crosses the border with Austria in Mikulov Drasenhofen. On the Austrian side, there is currently on the Brünnerstraße B7 or the future of the Northern Motorway A5 connection to Vienna.
The R52 is signposted as a motorway and vignettes or toll roads. The section between Modřice and Pohořelice was opened in 1996.
Extension
The Austrian A5 should be extended to the Czech border. On 23 January 2009, a treaty between the Czech Republic and Austria was signed which provides for an extension on the Czech side as R52 to R52 in existing Pohořelice. Thus, a continuous motorway link between Vienna and Brno would be created in the future.
The project of a " Westtangente Brno ", which provides route variants of the R52, which branch at Modřice or Rajhrad from the previous R52 and with the D1 lead to a new interchange at Troubsko to then be continued as R43 on Kuřim up to R35, is included in the long-term planning for the development of Greater Brno. In 2003, a study of possible routes between the new interchange at Troubsko (D1 km 188.5 ) and Rajhrad was created. As a result, two variants of the R52 have been developed that provide for the execution as a highway with cross-sectional R 26.5 and a design speed of 120 km / h in this section. The plans included in this area several tunnel structures, which should be between 492 m and 1090 m long. However, these are only preliminary drafts, still bearing not binding, but can be substantiated only after determining the principles of territorial development of the South Moravian Region. A route alternative runs on the track of being built before 1945 Reichsautobahn Vienna -Breslau, which was never completed.
