Radio DDR 1

Radio DDR I was a radio program broadcasting the GDR. Radio DDR I was a mixed program of information and entertainment, whose focus was based on the events in the GDR.

History

This program was established with the work carried out August 1953 broadcasting reform alongside the two other programs transmitter Germany and Berliner Rundfunk under the name Radio GDR. From June 1954 to September 1955, the program was called Berlin 2 program, in contrast to the program of the Berliner Rundfunk, Berlin was the first program.

In October 1958 Radio DDR II, which sent only via VHF followed. Radio DDR I sent to 1990 and was on medium wave ( 531, 558, 576, 603, 729, 882 and 1044 kHz) and FM broadcast.

In the sports desk of Radio DDR I worked famous and popular journalists as Heinz Florian Oertel, Hubert Knobloch, Wolfgang Hempel, Herbert Kuttner, Werner Eberhardt, Waldefried Vorkefeld, Thomas Schwarz, Klaus -Jürgen Alde, Heinz -Günter Otto and Helmut Schulze that the part are still active today. Executive Editor until the takeover was Werner Arendt and Deputy Horst Brownish. The sports department reported many Olympic Games and football World Cup and European Championships.

The weekly broadcast Schlager Revue with Heinz Cross Man was 36 years, the longest sent in a row radio charts in the world. Editor of the show was from 1963 to 1988 the composer, lyricist, arranger, singer and orchestra leader Siegfried Jordan. In the entertainment field had known presenters such as Manfred Uhlig, Reinhard Mirmseker, Peter Niedziella, Klaus -Peter Wagner, Hans Misersky, Ilona Thäsler, which even today are working in many East German state broadcasters ARD and enjoy a high popularity.

The program of Radio DDR I was long regarded as the most popular program of the GDR radio because it was not as superficial political and voice of the GDR and not as Berlin- centered as the Berliner Rundfunk, but also entertainment and sports elements in his program recorded. In addition, radio plays as the forest road No. 7 were included in the program.

With the turn of the time determined by the SED - line political coverage of the transmitter has been lifted. The frequency 89.0 MHz chunk of the transmitter, the strongest FM frequency in Germany, however, went to the newly established commercial broadcaster Radio Brocken, and is now occupied by 89.0 RTL.
