Geography

Radis is about 20 km southwest of Wittenberg on the edge of the Natural Park Duebener Heath.

History

1378 Radis was first mentioned in documents as Rodiß. A mansion is already attested in 1499, and from him the manor later developed.

On 1 January 2010, until then independent municipality Radis was incorporated together with the communities Dabrun, Eutzsch, Rackith, Rotta, Schleesen, Selbitz, Uthausen and wait castle in the city Kemberg. At the same time the management of Community Kemberg, belonged to the Radis was dissolved.

Culture and sights

Pabst House

The Pope is a wooded area about 2 km west of Radis. The Pabst house, located in this forest, is the birthplace of Johann Gottfried Galle. He was, inter alia, by his discovery of the planet Neptune in 1846, becoming one of the most important German astronomers.
