Rafael Sanus Abad

Rafael Sanus Abad ( born August 29, 1931 in Alcoy, Alicante Province, Spain, † 13 May, 2010 Valencia) was a Catholic theologian, professor and Auxiliary Bishop of Valencia.

Life

Rafael Sanus initially charged a degree in civil law at the University of Valencia and then studied Catholic theology and philosophy at Dözesanseminar in Valencia. He received on 22 June 1958, the ordination. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he received his doctorate in theology. He was rector of the Colegio Mayor de San Juan de Ribera in Burjassot, professor and rector of the diocesan seminary in Valencia and Director of Convictorio Sacerdotal de Valencia. Later, he was appointed full professor at the Faculty of Theology and was dean of the Real Colegio Seminario del Corpus Christi at the University of Valencia. Rafael Sanus was a canon of the Cathedral of Valencia and vicar general of the archdiocese.

1989 Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Germaniciana and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Valencia. The episcopal ordination in the Cathedral of Valencia gave him on 12 March 1989, the Bishop of Valencia, Miguel Roca Cabanellas; Vicente Enrique y were co-consecrators Cardinal Tarancón, retired archbishop of Madrid, Antonio Molina Vilaplana, Bishop of León.

He was diocesan administrator for the accidental death of Archbishop Miguel Roca Cabanellas from January 2, 1992 to October 3, 1992.

His resignation was accepted in 2000 by Pope John Paul II, after prior disagreements with his very conservative current Archbishop of Valencia, Cardinal Agustín García- Gasco Vicente, were not fix it.
