Rafaela Ottiano

Rafaela Ottiano ( born March 4, 1888 in Venice, Italy, † August 18 1942 in East Boston, Massachusetts, United States) was an Italian-American actress.

Life

Rafaela Ottiano already worked in Europe as an actress before she emigrated to the United States in 1910. Her Broadway debut in 1924 as Mrs. Lovett in the play Sweeney Todd. In the same year she moved to Hollywood, where she was seen until her death in 1942, in over 40 movie productions.

Ottiano played both in the theater version and in the film adaptation of the novel Menschen im Hotel the figure of Suzanne. For the musical published in 1989 the figure shown by her was her renamed in honor in Rafaela Ottiano.

Ottiano lived during her time in New York City near Times Square. In her parents' home in East Boston, she passed away on August 18, 1942 at the age of 54 years from the effects of colon cancer.
