Raglan, New Zealand

Raglan is a small town on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. The place is known primarily as a surf spot.

Geography

Raglan is located at 37 ° 47 ' 55 " south latitude and 174 ° 51' 53 " east longitude on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. The place is located inland at the Whāingaroa Harbour and is thus protected from the Tasman Sea. The nearest town is Hamilton, a straight line located about 36 kilometers to the east.

Raglan is located in the Waikato region and is managed by the Waikato District Council.

Sports

Near the village there are several bays, where very long waves occur. These are used for surfing. The most famous surfing areas are Manu Bay, Whale Bay and Indicators Bay and Ngarunui Beach. One of the first surf film, The Endless Summer, was filmed partly in Raglan.
