Raiamas species have an elongated flattened body laterally and are 5 to 30 cm long. Your mouth is large, the maxillary long and usually extends to behind the eyes center. The caudal fin is forked, the anal fin longer than the dorsal fin. The dorsal fin is generally without flashy colors and patterns. Above the [ ventral ] n some sit enlarged pointed scales. Males and females differ only slightly. The tuberculate in males is weak.
