There is since 1950 a basic network channels of SWR (formerly of Südwestfunk ) for radio and television. As an antenna carrier erected in 1971, visible from afar, 137 -meter high guyed steel tube mast used. In addition, still there is a designed as a free-standing lattice tower radio tower.

Construction

The transmission tower consists of two segments: the lower part with a diameter of 1.50 meters carrying the antennas for DAB, radio, cellular and FM, the upper part of the UHF antenna for DVB -T. Before the conversion, 2007, the transmission tower consisted of three segments with a total height of 147 meters.

History

The transmitter Raichberg went on 23 December 1950 as FM transmitter for the first radio program of Südwestfunk, SWF, 1 in operation. At that time, the transmitting antenna was mounted on an observation tower, which stands next to the radio mast today. As of 24 December 1954, a 57 meter high steel tube mast was used as antenna support. Since this transmission mast could not carry the antennas for the broadcasting of the television program in 1971 went today, originally 147 meters high steel tube mast in operation. From 20 September 2007, the transmission tower of the forthcoming digital television DVB-T was converted. For this, the old analog VHF transmitter antenna was dismantled and a new 62 -meter-high UHF antenna for DVB- T mounted. This shrank the transmission tower from 147 to 137 meters.

Coverage area

The coverage area of the station mainly includes the Neckar-Alb region. Due to its exposed location, the programs are also about to receive by far. Due to the hilly countryside of the Swabian Alb in the south, some valleys of the Zollernalb district and the district of Sigmaringen on some large reception problems. For this reason, gap-fillers for FM broadcasting in Albstadt- Ebingen and Albstadt- Lautlingen be operated.
