Railway Vehicle Preservation Company

The Society for the Preservation of rail vehicles eV (GES ) is one of the oldest clubs in Germany, who runs a museum railway. The seat of the GES is located in Stuttgart.

Formation

It was founded on December 8, 1965 and originally consisted of a group of tram friends within the club Traffic friends Stuttgart eV, which were dedicated to the preservation and care of the last remaining railcar No. prescribed 126 of the former Filderbahn and other valuable historical trams. After the SSB initially showed no interest in building a museum collection and the Filderbahn railcar 126 could even be obtained only by outsourcing to Ludwigsburg, the GES of the more promising topic turned to railroad from the late 60s. This commitment of GES for the receipt and the subsequent restoration of the Filderbahn car 126 but they laid the " foundation stone " for today's collection of the association Stuttgart Historic trams.

Ride program

The GES leads today regularly by museum railway operation with the historic train sets Fiery Elias and Sofazügle. Due to the ban steam locomotive German Federal Railroad 1977-1985 they had but their bets on private railways as the Strohgäubahn of Korntal to Weissach or Tälesbahn between Nürtingen and Neuffen limit. Initially, special trips on the WEG track Vaihingen / Enz North Enzweihingen and to 1982 were carried out on the Filderbahn between Stuttgart -Möhringen, Stuttgart- Vaihingen, Leinfelden and Filderstadt. From 1985, special rides were also offered on other routes in the Stuttgart area.

Hohenzollernzug

The GES has the Hohenzollernzug ​​a technical monument of the State of Baden- Wuerttemberg. It consists of the locomotives 11 and 16 and the carriage 3, 6, 7, 9, 21, 22, 24, 26, 73, 74, and 77, which were in use at the Hohenzollern small railway company ( from 1907 Hohenzollerische Landesbahn ). The collection is complemented by the Lok 6 " Margaret ," which was at the Princely Hohenzollern metallurgical plants in operation, and to remember the nearly identical Lok 6 of HzL, as well as the " country's railway car" similar cars from other private railways.

These vehicles are used in the heritage railway operating in the Sofazügle and the Fiery Elias.
