Rainer Philipp

Rainer Philipp ( born March 8, 1950 in Bad Nauheim ) is a former German professional ice hockey player.

The Hockey Rainer Philipp began at VfL Bad Nauheim, where he went through all the youth departments and later belonged to the squad of the Bundesliga teams. After 13 years without a title at the first division of the Hessian striker moved to season 1979/80 to the Cologne Sharks, who had then just won two championships in three years. In the early years, he failed with the KEC always in the running for the championship. It was not until 1984, fulfilled his dream and he won with the sharks the final of the play-offs against the EV Landshut and thus his first title. In the meantime, the trained body - master had also opened his own company in Cologne. A year later, he ended his active career though, the KEC remained faithful for a long time, such as a supervisor of the youth teams or as a player in the tradition of the team.

Philip played 717 games in the Bundesliga, scoring 454 goals. He also played 199 times for the German national team ( 90 goals) and participated in several World Championships and the Olympic Games in 1976 and 1980. At the Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1976, he won the bronze medal with the team sensationally by Xaver nonsense.

Rainer Philipp is the uncle of former Bundesliga player Ralf Philipp, with whom he played together with the Cologne Sharks.
