Ramal de Viseu

The railway connection Ramal de Viseu was a narrow gauge railway (1000 mm) in central Portugal, which joined the Linha do Vouga with the city of Viseu.

History

The line was closed in 1990. Back in the 70s there were closures, since the operation of steam locomotives repeatedly led to forest fires in the area. After April 25, 1974, the line was operated by diesel trains. Today, remains of the former range not much left except some station buildings, tunnels and bridges. Currently there are efforts to convert the disused track in an Eco Bicycle Trail.
