Ramolkogel

The Ramolkogel is a mountain in mehrgipfeliger Ramolkamm which branches north of the east-west running main ridge of the Ötztal Alps. The ridge is located in the Austrian state of Tyrol. A distinction is made between the Great with a height of 3549 m above sea level. A. the highest summit of the ridge, the Middle ( 3518 m), the little ones with 3339 m height and Northern Ramolkogel ( 3427 m) also called Anichspitze, after the Tyrolean cartographer Peter Anich. The peaks have particularly to the northeast, the direction of Obergurgl, in the municipality of Sölden a large geographical dominance. Was first climbed the Great Ramolkogel on July 18, 1862 from St. Gallen alpinists Johann Jakob Weilenmann alone.

Location

The Ramolgruppe is about 5 kilometers in a straight line south-west of Obergurgl in Gurgler valley. It is surrounded to the north and east of glaciers, the southwest and west fall steep scree slopes from the Venter Tal. The Laces Furthermore, on the north wall of the Great Ramolkogels be the accumulation area, in the east of the Ramolferner from a snowfield below the Anichspitze and the Middle Ramolkogels forms. The only significant neighboring mountain is in the south, separated by the Ramoljoch ( 3189 m), the Rear Mirror Peak with 3424 m height.

Base and commission

Because Mann's ascent on July 18, 1862 began in Vent. After he had waited in vain for his mountain guide Nicodemus Klotz, he wanted to walk alone on the Ramoljoch after Gurgl. On his way, he decided to climb the Great Ramolkogel. His route took on the southwest side of the peak. Today's normal route, the easiest ascent up the mountain, leads as high tour with equipment from the south Ramolhaus, at 3006 meters above sea level, on the northeast ridge to the Middle Ramolkogel. The tour runs north from the hut over the Ramolferner up to a to 3367 m altitude fissured hanging saddle between the Anichspitze and the Middle Ramolkogel. To the west, it is all about the East Ridge in, according to the literature, mild to moderately difficult climb in difficulty UIAA I-II for Medium and Big Ramolkogel, and northeast continue to Anichspitze in a walking time 4-5 hours.
