Ramsewak Shankar

Ramsewak Shankar ( born November 6, 1937) is a Surinamese politician, he was 1988-1990 President of Suriname.

Shankar 's Hindustani descent and studied engineering for agriculture. After 1985 and 1986, the increased formation of guerrilla groups came, almost paralyzed the entire economy of the country, Suriname was a new constitution in 1987 and the first civilian government was installed. After carried out in the same year elections were Shankar, former Minister of Agriculture of the National Council, elected to succeed Ramdat Misier president. His term lasted from 25 January 1988 to 24 December 1990. Successor as president was Ivan Graanoogst.
